Sparkling Ice Synchronized Skating Team - this team of Pre-Juvenile skaters has been skating together for a little over a year and this was the first time competing for most of them. The team had an outstanding year as they won silver medals at all 4 competitions in the 2007/2008 season. However, the crowning glory was winning silver medals at the Ontario Regionals in Oshawa where they competed against 19 teams. This is quite the accomplishment for a young team competing for the first time. It was evident after the first competition that this team was eager to compete and they wanted to do well at the competitions. After each competition, the team pressed their coaches to add more and the coaches complied by adding a degree of difficulty to the routine each time. The team worked hard at practices to incorporate these changes in the short amount of time in between competitions. Their hard work and dedication paid off in their Silver medal placements.

Congratulations ‘Sparkling Ice’! And Congratulations to the coaches who worked diligently and patiently and somehow managed to keep an energetic calm with the skaters. Also, Congratulations and a huge ‘thank you’ to the team manager, Carolyn Teehan, who worked tirelessly to ensure that everything behind the scenes ran smoothly.

Sparkling Ice Synchronized Skating team placed second, winning silver medals in the 2008 Lloyd Ogilvie Memorial Invitational Synchronized Skating Competition held in Fort Erie on Saturday January 5th, 2008, the skaters competed against 7 teams.

In the SixO SynchroSkate 2008 Peterborough Competition held on Saturday January 26th, 2008, again Sparkling Ice won silver medals as they competed against 8 other teams.

In Newmarket, the Sparkling Ice team competed against 14 other teams in the Cupid’s Capers Invitational Competition and successfully captured second place.

On February 8th, the 2008 Central Regional Festival of Synchronized Skating was held at the General Motors Centre in Oshawa. This competition saw 19 teams competing for the Ontario title, Sparkling Ice won silver medals.
