USC
COACHES
GROUP INSTRUCTION & PRIVATE
LESSONS
USC Coaches are Skate Canada professionals, with National
Coaching and First Aid Certification, plus police clearance
and positions of trust checks. Most teach both group and
private lessons.
Preschool, CanSkate, Pre-Intermediate, Intermediate,
Power Skating, Synchronized Skating and Adult sessions include
group instruction. Once a skater has passed CanSkate Stage
6, private lessons are the recommended route to learn advanced
Figure Skating Skills, often in preparation for Testing
or Competition.
Consider a favourite CanSkate coach, follow
a personal recommendation, or refer to the Club Office for
advice. Once decided, contact a USC
coach directly to arrange
lessons during regular sessions
and/or scheduled Open
Ice time.
Typically, private lessons are 15 minutes long, with
the remainder of the session dedicated to practice. Where
skill level is similar, lessons can be shared between
skaters. As skill level progresses, a skater may work
with more than one coach, to cover a range of disciplines.
Coaches bill monthly for private lessons and parents pay
the coach directly.
Coaches will contact you if unable to fulfill
a private lesson commitment.
Please let your coach know if a skater cannot
make a scheduled lesson.
